Application process for admission into the Graduate Studies in Biological Anthropology Specialization:

Potential applicants should take the following steps in order to apply to this specialization:

1)  Determine the faculty member within the program with whom you are most interested in working (http://bioanth.ucalgary.ca/associated_faculty ).

2) Contact the faculty member with whom you are interested in working to tell them of your interest and to ask them if they are taking any new students next year.

3)  If the faculty member is taking new students, you would follow the application procedures for the faculty member's home department.  In the cover letter with your application, you should note that you would like to be considered for admission to the Graduate Studies in Biological Anthropology Specialization.

Once your application is submitted, your application would then be reviewed by both the home department and the faculty of the Graduate Studies in Biological Anthropology Specialization.

For example, if you are interested in researching the anthropogenic disturbance of biodiversity in the rain forests of southeastern Madagascar, you would contact Dr. Steig Johnson.  If he is taking students, you would follow the application guidelines for the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology.
